The theme for this trip appears to be “separates”. Skirts and pants and tops worn mixed and matched, with not a single dress mixed in. Versatile, hand-sewn clothing in multiple outfits.
This is day 4, my “folded skirt” in ponte knit. By day, for touring around, it’s paired with a pullover lace sweater knitted from a 1923 pattern, “Summerland Sweater“.
The turquoise and blue with my bright-colored bangles and earrings make this is my “1980’s revival” outfit.
By night…
…the same skirt goes out with a satiny printed top made from a fabric with a squared handkerchief print. This fabric was a find on a bargain sale rack, and some day I’m going to remake this top using large square scarves. I like working with the square-turned-on-an-angle part of the design.
This is a quick-change outfit, swapping out just the shirt and the shoes. I love garments that can do double-duty, and even though I wasn’t so fond of this skirt when I first made it, I’m finding it goes the distance, for wearing.
Very nice. I love separates for travel especially.
The handkerchief top is gorgeous.
I love the hankerchief top, and you have amazing accessories. Separates are definitely easier – both for wearing and sewing.
Harder to pack, though–I have to make sure I have the right other piece, to coordinate with the first!
Love the handkerchief top – I could see making a couple of those!
